Meet Laura

Hello, I am Laura, founder and Poet-in-Chief of Charlottesville Poem Store.

I have been a writer and typewriter-owner since the 1980’s, and in 2022 I combined my love of both to offer custom typewriter poetry as a service.

My favorite part of writing poems on demand is the deep connection that I feel with each of my customers.

Here’s how to order a custom poem from Laura:

  1. You provide a topic: one word, or a longer description of your topic and why you’d like a poem about it.
  2. I write your poem, choose a one-of-a-kind piece of vintage paper for you, then I type your poem.
  3. I slip your poem into a cellulose envelope, seal it tight, and then slip that envelope into a rigid brown kraft mailer. Then I hand-address your mailer and send to you via first class USPS mail.
