Personal Analog Connection: The Offerings of Charlottesville Poem Store

Charlottesville Poem Store live poetry lounge setup featuring a vintage typewriter and archival paper at a luxury hotel event.

I have been behind a typewriter at over 85 events since 2022 — at weddings, fundraising galas, corporate parties, private celebrations — and in that time I have typed more than 1,500 poems for strangers who, within a few minutes, stopped being strangers. What started as a love letter to Charlottesville has grown into something more like a literary studio.

The work has always had two distinct shapes. The first is fast and live — the typewriter on a table, the guest who leans in with a name or a memory or a single word, and the poem that spools off of the platen and into hand.

The second is slower: a bespoke commissioned piece written for the VIP guest, researched, hand-typed on archival-quality materials, framed and ready for staging.

The foundation of both offerings is the same: making a personal analog connection in an increasingly impersonal digital age.

As we expand our reach from Virginia to Washington D.C. and beyond, our commitment to administrative precision and creative rigor remains. We invite event planners, hospitality directors, and couples to explore how a manual typewriter and a bespoke poem can transform their next gathering into a storied occasion.
